The Russian Foreign Ministry has agreed with the opinion of the head of the government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, who believes that for now, it is worth abstaining from foreign travels, the agency’s website reports.

The MFA agrees that leaving the country today is an unreasonably high risk. There is still a risk that, after the first wave of the spread of coronavirus infection, a second one may follow. This is reminded by the World Health Organization.

Although the Russian consulates are gradually starting to work in many countries, the provision of consular support to Russians is still difficult. It should also be remembered that the authorities of foreign countries have not lifted restrictions on international air traffic. Until now, thousands of Russian citizens remain abroad and wait for export flights to return home.

Given all these circumstances, the Foreign Ministry recommends that Russian citizens refrain from traveling abroad unless there is an urgent vital need, for example, related to receiving emergency treatment or visiting seriously ill relatives.
