Russia Day Festival takes place on Cyprus

The festival, dedicated to the Day of Russia,  is taking place on Cyprus. Its events cover Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. A wide online program will coincide with the holiday. The organizers of the action are the Russian embassy and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo, the agency’s website reports.

The Russian Center for Science and Culture presents an exhibition of works by young artists on its Facebook page. The contest participants are children and adolescents aged 5 to 17 years. The best drawings will be collected in a collage and shown as part of the celebration, which will be held on June 12.

The program also includes the screenings of Russian features and  and the premiere of Russians in Cyprus documentary. Its author is journalist and historian Elena Bakakina, who constantly resides on the island.

In Larnaca, all local residents, immigrants from Russia, guests from other countries are invited to the Finikoudes embankment. A yacht with the Russian tricolor will run along the entire coast. In Limassol, a flash mob will be held with the participation of the Victory Volunteers movement team.

The youth club of Russian compatriots operating at the Russian center in Nicosia will present the Russian Identity and Folklore of the 21st Century project online. Graduates of Russian universities made videos of their stories about what Russia means for each of them, why they love and value the country.
