One of the youngest state holidays - Russia Day - is celebrated on Friday, June 12. On this day in 1990, a Declaration on the state sovereignty of the country was adopted. Two years later, this date was included in the list of holidays. It got its current name only in 2002. Festive events are held throughout the country, for the most part they are going to take place online. The scale of many of them was reduced due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation.

By tradition, the award ceremony of the Heroes of Labor is timed to the holiday. Gold medals will be awarded to them by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He will also participate in the flag-raising ceremony to be held on Poklonnaya Hill. In the evening, a gala concert is planned on Red Square.

A graffiti festival has been organized throughout the country. Street artists create paintings, united by festive themes and symbols, and also depict modern heroes: doctors, scientists, volunteers, social workers, couriers.

In the Crimea, the holiday will end with fireworks. It will soar into the sky above the Simferopol Museum-Reserve. In the meantime, Yakutsk will highlight the TV tower in the colors of the Russian tricolor in the evening.

An online Colors of Russia contest is organized in the Khabarovsk Territory. Participants are invited to choose from a personal archive photos of patriotic themes that reflect the love of the country, culture and its historical past. The photo must be published on social networks.

As Russkiy Mir reported, compatriots from different countries joined the celebration of Russia Day. They launched actions and flash mobs online, organized exhibitions and competitions.
