Russian Center in Amman welcomes guests after long break

06.08.2020

Despite the ongoing quarantine in the country, The University of Jordan has partially resumed its work, and the Russian Center, created by the Russkiy Mir Foundation at this university, begins to welcome guests after a long break.

On August 5, the Deputy Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Amman Ruslan Prokhorov held a working meeting with public relations officer Nasser Sarkhan and the head of the department of foreign languages of Zeidun Sharaa. They were joined by Russian language teachers Tatyana Glushchenko, Inna Zarovna and Ekaterina Fedoseyeva.

The university administration thanked Rossotrudnichestvo for providing annual state scholarships to graduates of the Russian department and expressed hope for active support of the bachelor's program in Russian at the University of Jordan, which remains the only one in the country. The representative of the Russian center, in his turn, proposed to jointly implement cultural and scientific projects, paying particular attention to the development of academic mobility among students and faculty. The teachers talked about the specifics of their work, discussed the main difficulties in the work and possible ways to overcome them.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation between the Russian center in Amman and the University of Jordan in the field of education, science and culture. The participants also drew a preliminary plan of joint activities to promote the Russian language among Jordanian students.
