The traveler Evgeny Kutuzov, who wants to follow the path of the famous Russian traveler Afanasy Nikitin, has reached Derbent. He has been on the road for almost a year and a half, the Tverskiye Vedomosti newspaper writes.

The starting point of the trip was the monument to Afanasy Nikitin, erected in Tver. The first forced downtime happened in Volgograd, where Kutuzov broke his leg. During the recovery period, Evgeny registered as a self-employed citizen and now pays taxes on all funds that are transferred by subscribers.

The enthusiast says that travel is an independent project with no funding other than the money that subscribers transfer. Thanks to the increasing army of followers, he was able to raise money for the treatment of sick children who need an expensive operation - it was for this purpose that Kutuzov went on the trip in the first place.

The Russian part of the route ends in Derbent. From there, the traveler was going to pass the Azerbaijani and Iranian territories, and then move to India. But due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, the borders are closed. For foreigners, including Russians, entry into the country is prohibited until October.

Evgeny Kutuzov recalls that Afanasy Nikitin was also detained in Derbent by cordons sanitaire, then cholera was raging around. He added that even if he had to spend the winter in Derbent, the trip was not canceled, but only postponed.
