The Troika card, which is used in Moscow transport, was named the smartest transport card in the world according to the Transport Ticketing Global international award, which was announced at a ceremony in London, RIA Novosti reports.

Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov said at the Transport of Russia international forum that the victory in the prestigious competition was an impressive result of the creators of the card issued seven years ago.

The rivals of the Moscow card in the struggle for victory were transport developments from Great Britain and Germany. Maxim Liksutov noted that Troika proved to be one of the world leaders in card speed on turnstiles, it takes less than 0.3 seconds, for comparison: in the London or New York metro, equipment spends about half a second on identifying information from a card.

Another important distinguishing part of Troika is that the system designed to service it is able to calculate all tariff options in a split second, taking into account discounts and transfers between all types of public transport.
