Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev wins ATP finals

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev became the winner of the final tournament of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which brought together the world's most rated athletes. In the final, which was held in London, the 24-year-old Russian outplayed the Austrian Dominik Tim, RIA Novosti reports.

Medvedev made his first appearance in the final of the main tournament of the year, on the way to the decisive match, the Russian defeated the leaders of world tennis, including Rafael Nadal and the first racket of the world (according to the ATP rating) Novak Djokovic.

The decisive match turned out to be long and lasted more than 2,5 hours. Having lost in the first set, Daniil Medvedev snatched a victory in the protracted second game and in the third set brought the match to a victorious conclusion. The trophy was his ninth at the ATP tournaments. The representative of Russia for the second time became the winner of the final ATP tournament, eleven years ago this title went to Nikolai Davydenko.
