Russian barque Sedov completed its round-the-world trip

The Russian barque Sedov has returned to the Kaliningrad region after the end of the round-the-world trip. It embarked in the port of Baltiysk, the Pobeda RF website reports. According to Vladimir Volkogon, rector of the Kaliningrad State Technical University, the Sails of the World expedition has been successfully completed.

Recall that the first ever "Sails of the World" joint expedition began at the end of 2019. The frigate Pallada and the barque Sedov set off on a round-the-world voyage, the bark Kruzenshtern - on a transatlantic voyage. The voyage was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Pallada started from Vladivostok on November 1, Sedov and Kruzenshtern - from Kaliningrad on December 8. On February 20 and 21, the sailing ships took part in the race in memory of the discovery of the sixth continent, which was made 200 years ago by Russian sailors under the leadership of Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev. At the end of April, Sedov and Pallada met at the entrance to the Strait of Malacca and then moved along the same route. The Pallada completed its voyage on June 3 in Vladivostok. On the same day Kruzenshtern entered the port of Kaliningrad.

The barque Sedov set off for the port of registry along the Northern Sea Route, having previously made a training voyage in the Sea of ​​Japan with a group of cadets. 700 cadets from nine educational institutions of the country set off on the expedition. All of them have successfully completed the internship.

During its voyage, the sailboat covered 35,000 nautical miles.
