21th International Television Contest for Young Musicians is concluded

10.12.2020

The Nutcracker Contest for young musicians is concluded on December, 9, RIA Novosti reported. 48 performers from 23 countries and 12 Russian regions took part in it. Each year the contest discovers new and exciting talents, and even this year, despite the pandemic, the contest was held with a success.

As we reported earlier, musicians have competed in several categories. Their skills and talent were assessed by a professional jury, which included, as always, famous Russian, European and American musicians.

The first and second stages of the competitive selection were held solo or with an accompanist. As part of the third round finalists performed with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic under the baton of Mikhail Shekhtman.

The young musicians have competed for the title of ‘Gold’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Bronze Nutcracker’ in the categories ‘Piano’, ‘Strings, ‘Wind and Percussion Instruments’.

In the ‘Strings’ category, the ‘Gold Nutcracker’ went to violinist Ilva Eigus (Switzerland / Latvia), the Silver went to violinist Stefaniia Pospekhina  (Moscow, Russia), and the Bronze to harpist Svetlana  Novikova (Russia, Izhevsk).

In the ‘Wind and Percussion Instruments’ category the main prize went to clarinet player Andrei Zaitsev (Dolgoprudny, Russia), other two prizes went also to Russian musicians.

In the ‘Piano’ category, the ‘Gold Nutcracker’ went to Roman Sher (Moscow, Russia), the Silver to Nora Lubbadová (Czech Republic), and  the Bronze to Ivan Chepkin (Moscow, Russia).
