25 Russian-speaking football fans living in Sweden joined the Friends team. The team has big ambitions, and it plans to rise following the results of the new season - to move to a higher division. According to the coach and founder of the team, Alexei Podgorodetsky, the games of the new season will be held in Stockholm and fans can support compatriots in the stands, the website of the Union of Russian Societies in Sweden reports.

Alexey Podgorodetsky from Odessa considers the Soviet Union his homeland. Much of his life is connected with football, and sports brought him to Sweden in 1998. Years later, it became a tradition to meet with Russian-speaking friends on the football field on Fridays.

The idea of creating a team was supported by all its members; last year the Friends football club was officially registered as a non-profit organization.

The next season starts in two months. The international community of football players and their common homeland is reflected in the team's emblem, which shows all the republics of the former Soviet Union.
