Russian Church announced 2021 Year of Alexander Nevsky

The year of Alexander Nevsky was announced by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in 2021, TASS reports.

Patriarch Kirill recalled that this year the anniversary of the holy prince is being celebrated throughout the country. 800 years passed since his birth. In honor of this date, many different actions and events are planned. The Russian Orthodox Church will also join the celebration.

Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov, who heads the work of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, noted that for the ROC, 2021 will officially become the year of Alexander Nevsky.
