Russia has extended the ban on air traffic with Great Britain for another month, until April 16, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, the Russian authorities suspended flights with the UK due to the worsening epidemiological situation.

The new strain of coronavirus, which was found on British territory, is almost three times more infectious than the previous one and spreads much more actively. Many countries have also banned flights to the UK, some have quarantined air passengers arriving from the country.

The world's first test system for detecting the "British" strain of coronavirus was developed by Russian scientists. It has already registered. Specialists from the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor worked on its creation. The department noted that tests on clinical samples with a confirmed mutation have been completed. They confirmed the high accuracy of the test system. The new technology makes it possible to create reagents for detecting any mutations of the coronavirus, as well as other infections that require mass testing.
