Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov promised to change the format of work with students from abroad who are studying in Russia. The head of the department said this during a speech at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science. It took place on Tuesday, March 23, TASS reports.

According to the minister, the very model of working with foreign students requires changes. Valery Falkov explained that there is no flexibility in it, it is not student-oriented.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science gave an example that not all students abroad can afford to attend classes in an online format, because citizens of almost 200 states study in Russia. The process of rethinking this situation in the ministry has already started, the minister explained.

Foreign students of Russian universities from a number of countries were allowed to studies if they had negative PCR tests for coronavirus. The mass return of students from abroad to Russia is hindered by closed borders with many states. Last year, almost 100,000 foreign freshmen entered Russian universities.
