Cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres plays an important role in the relations between Moscow and Athens, the Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrei Maslov is sure. He called the cross-year of the history of Russia and Greece, announced this year, as a vivid proof of this, the Parlamentskaya Gazeta newspaper writes.

The year of history has become the 4th consecutive joint thematic project. In particular, the Year of Tourism, the Year of Language and Literature were previously held.

The program of the Russian-Greek year brings together more than 100 outstanding events. They will be held in both countries, and many of them in the regions. The high-ranking Russian diplomat said that, among other things, feature films and documentaries would be filmed, and educational expeditions to places of common military glory would be held. They will be complemented by art and documentary exhibitions, the release and translation of books by writers from both countries. Russian and Greek scientists will meet at conferences. Concerts, memorial ceremonies and more are planned.

Calls to Greek ports of Russian warships will coincide with the memorable dates.

“We hope that the epidemiological situation in Russia and Greece will make it possible to implement all these plans,” said Andrey Maslov.
