Chess tournament brought together young compatriots from Africa and Middle East

Young compatriots living in the Middle East and African countries were united by a chess tournament. It took place online. It was initiated by the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in Palestine. 

The competition was the first qualifying stage of the To the Stars tournament. The competition will coincide with the anniversary of the 1st manned flight into space. Young chess players will fight in a friendly match on the eve of Cosmonautics Day, which is celebrated on April 12.

Almost 70 people fought for victory in the competition, they were divided into two age categories. The online format made it possible to expand the geography of the participants. The tournament brought together 9 countries. In particular, young compatriots from Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon, South Africa demonstrated their abilities in chess. For many, this was the first experience of participating in such competitions.
