The unfavorable epidemiological situation and restrictions aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection did not hinder the plans to hold the Franco-Russian Music Seasons Festival. The music festival, which is headed by the chief conductor of the Bolshoi Theater Tugan Sokhiev, was held in Toulouse, TASS reports.

At the final concert, held the day before, on April 1, the audience enjoyed live music while the artists and conductor took to the stage at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, southern France. They performed the music of Messiaen, Liszt, Tchaikovsky.

According to the maestro, the festival program included four concerts. The Russian conductor has no doubts that the festival is of particular importance today, during the pandemic. The audience enjoyed the concerts. All music fans are eagerly awaiting when they can return to the halls, the conductor added.

After the end of the festival program, Tugan Sokhiev will return to rehearsals at the Bolshoi Theater. A new premiere is expected there this month - Puccini's opera Tosca.

According to the musician, Russia has a very rich cultural life, and French colleagues envy this, since their sanitary restrictions are much stricter.

The Toulouse Festival is held under the patronage of the Trianon Dialogue Franco-Russian Civil Society Forum. It was created on the initiative of the Presidents of Russia and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, in 2017.
