April in New York is traditionally dedicated to Russian-American history, according to the project's website. This is the 10th themed month.

The event has been held in New York State since 2012. In the spring of 2015, the month received official status. Its main goal is to tell the people of the United States about what the Russian Americans have done not only for this country, but for the whole world. The organizer is traditionally the Russian-American Cultural Center (RACSI).

This year's program for the month is much more modest: the unfavorable epidemiological situation forced its own adjustments. The pandemic forced to restrict performances, concerts and other public events. Traditionally, various public organizations of compatriots take part in their preparation.

RACSI also expressed appreciation for the consistent support of the New York State Senate, Assembly and Governor for the month. This year, the program of the action will include the celebration of the anniversary of the first manned flight into space: the feat of Yuri Gagarin on April 12 will turn 60 years old. Another tradition is the celebration of Elbe Day on April 25.
