Russia is in the 12th position in the world in terms of its presence in the top 500 global university rankings, TASS reports. This became known after the completion of the meeting of the project committee dedicated to the Education national project.

According to the national project, the country should enter the top ten leaders in terms of the presence of universities in the top 500 world rankings.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the creation of network universities in the country. According to him, it is difficult to train domain experts in only one university. There should be conditions which will allow experts from various regions of the country "to be able to contribute to the training of a highly qualified specialist."
