Role of Russia in space exploration discussed in Egypt

The event, timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space, was held at the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The main topic of discussion, which was attended by Russian and Egyptian officials, was Russia's contribution to space exploration and cooperation between Moscow and Cairo in the space industry, the Russian Embassy in Egypt reports on Facebook.

The event was organized jointly with the participation of the said Ministry and the Egyptian Space Agency, as well as the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo and the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.

Speaking at the event, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Subhi and the head of the space agency Mohammed El-Kusi emphasized the importance of Yuri Gagarin's flight for world history and said that the first manned flight into space was enthusiastically received in Egypt. Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko said that the countries are linked by joint space projects.

The main event of the meeting, which brought together Egyptian youth and residents of the country of other generations, was the speech of the cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Mikhail Kornienko. He spoke about his space expeditions, the experience of going into outer space, the importance of space exploration for mankind. Also, as part of the event, a concert was held with the participation of Russian and Egyptian performers.
