Matryoshka with national Chuvash patterns will become an exhibit of the Matryoshka Museum, opened at the Russian Cultural and Educational Center "Pushkin House" in Seoul. The unique doll will allow visitors to get acquainted with the national costume and traditions of the Chuvash people.
The matryoshka, created by the famous Chuvash craftswoman Lyudmila Vasilyeva, consists of 8 dolls. The author dressed each of them in a unique Chuvash costume with national patterns. The project for the delivery of the matryoshka to Seoul is being implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development of Chuvashia and other departments and organizations.
The republic expects that the matryoshka will contribute to the rapprochement of the peoples of Chuvashia and South Korea, acquaint the country's residents with the cultural traditions of the Russian region. The special diplomatic role of the matryoshka is also evidenced by the fact that it will go to Seoul by diplomatic mail through the Association for International Cooperation.
In many countries of the world, the matryoshka is perceived as a symbol of Russian culture. The Month for Studying Matryoshka was opened in Turkey in March.
