Russians will be able to become participants in the Erasmus + student exchange program launched by the European Union. This year the project will work in several directions, and in 2022 it will reach the planned volume. The program's budget for the next 7 years has almost doubled and exceeded 26 billion euros, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a 70% decline in the number of EU student exchanges. Launched in 2021, the renewed Erasmus + aims to address the challenges that the education sector is experiencing due to the pandemic.

It is reported that the authors of the program plan to partially hold it online. At the same time, it is emphasized that full-time study at a foreign university remains a priority for Erasmus +. It remains the only major educational program linking Russia and the EU with EU funding.

Russian universities are selecting program participants, which did not stop last year. 66 students from Russia, who passed the selection, began their studies at European universities last autumn. Over the past 7 years, more than 13,000 Russians have become Erasmus + participants, almost 10,000 students from European countries have been able to study in Russia.
