In Tanzania, a ceremony was held to award certificates to local residents who have successfully completed a special intensive Russian language course at the Russian House in Dar es Salaam. The course was prepared and conducted by Daria Ilyenko and Polina Tikunova, winners of the prestigious All-Russian student competition “Masters of the Russian Language,” from Moscow State Pedagogical University.

Residents of Tanzania, employed in various fields, wished to take a language course. Workers of travel agencies and future diplomats of Tanzania also took part in it.

The volunteer project, which became the first foreign experience for Polina and Daria, was not limited to the intensive language course. They held open lessons at the Russian House both at Russian language courses and at the Dar Speech school of additional education.

Despite the limited period of stay in Tanzania for only one month, the guests from Moscow managed to hold an open lesson in Zanzibar - in the branch of Russian language courses, opened in 2019.

A sharp increase in the number of people wishing to study Russian in Tanzania is associated with an increase in the tourist flow from Russia and other republics of the former USSR.
