More than 30,000 volunteers will join the St. George Ribbon campaign in Russia and abroad, TASS reports. The promotion started on Tuesday, April 27. It will unite 1,500 settlements.

According to Olga Amelchenkova, who heads the Volunteers of Victory social movement, volunteers will distribute the Victory symbol to Russians and foreigners.

Olga Amelchenkova recalled that last year, at the height of restrictions against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, volunteers brought ribbons to the elderly, and also delivered them to organizations that continued to work.

Together with the ribbons, volunteers will distribute leaflets containing the history of the St.George ribbon, which will be supplemented by recommendations on how best to wear it.

As Russkiy Mir reported earlier, the project was launched in 2005, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Victory. Every year many people wear St. George's ribbons with pleasure. For those who do not know the meaning of the ribbon, volunteers tell about its history and how similar events are held all over the world. The action has long become international, it is held in dozens of countries around the world.
