The acceptance of works for the literary translation competition has started, according to the website of the Moscow House of Compatriot. The competition for connoisseurs of the Russian language in France will be the 4th in a row. It is organized by the Teremok Association and the Pushkin Center in Nancy with the assistance of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Paris.

The competition is dedicated to the work of two classics of Russian literature who celebrate their anniversaries in 2021: Fyodor Dostoevsky and Nikolai Nekrasov. This year marks the 200th anniversary of their birth.

According to the organizers, the participants will be immersed in the atmosphere of the wonderful world of Russian literature of the 19th century.

They need to translate a fragment from Nekrasov's poem "Frost, Red Nose", where the poet created the image of a Russian peasant woman. Young compatriots can also participate in the competition with the translation of another creation by Nekrasov - the poem "Schoolboy".

For lovers of prose, an excerpt from the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment" is offered for translation - a description of the former titular adviser Semyon Zakharovich Marmeladov.

Competitive work must be sent by May 23 to concours.traduction.nancy@gmail.com. The names of the winners will be announced on June 26 as part of the Day of Russian Literature.
