Almost 40,000 Russians left Turkey in three days, RIA Novosti reports. During the same period, about 2,000 people were taken out of Tanzania.

The evacuation of Russian citizens from these two countries was organized by the Federal Air Transport Agency. The campaign started on April 15. Until April 18, almost 180 flights were performed by both Russian and Turkish airlines. It took 6x flights to take 1,700 Russians out of Zanzibar.

From April 15 to June 1, about 170,000 air tickets from Turkish airports to Russia were previously sold. About 5,000 tickets were sold from Tanzania to Russian cities.

Earlier, the Russian authorities resumed restrictions on flights to Turkey. The reason for this decision was the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the country. According to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, air traffic with Tanzania is also limited. Both regular and charter flights are discontinued. The decision will be valid until the beginning of summer.
