More 150 people will take part in the search work, which began near Volgograd, TASS reports. The "Stalingrad-2021" patriotic action started on Tuesday, April 20. The expedition will be joined not only by Russians, but also by representatives of European countries. They will search for those killed in the Battle of Stalingrad.

According to Andrey Oreshkin, who heads the regional branch of the search movement, the field camp was set up on the territory of the Gorodishchensky district, where the "Ring" operation took place. Then, in bloody battles, many Soviet soldiers laid down their heads.

Now French researchers are working together with Russian search teams. They want to personally honor the memory of those who, at the cost of their lives, stopped the Nazis and made a turning point in World War II. Foreigners will have a unique opportunity to appreciate the scale of the battle that played such a significant role in history.

Local search detachments work at the site of the Battle of Stalingrad annually and each year they raise up to 1,000 Soviet soldiers to the surface.

In France, a lot of geographical names are associated with Stalingrad. According to Andrey Oreshkin, this action should have a positive effect on preserving the memory of the war among the younger generation. French historians, anthropologists, archaeologists and students will participate in the search work. Descendants of former French President Charles de Gaulle are also expected to come.
