Russian oncologist first became member of American Association of Surgeons

The chief oncologist of Moscow, Professor Igor Khatkov, was elected an honorary member of the American Association of Surgeons. The decision, unanimously adopted by the Association Council, became historic - Igor Khatkov was the first Russian to receive membership in the oldest surgical organization in the world, RIA Novosti reports.

The candidacy of the chief oncologist of the Russian capital received the support of the Association Council last summer, and on the eve, on April 15, the decision was approved at a general meeting of the organization, which is considered the most prestigious and authoritative on the planet in the surgical field. Last year, the association celebrated its 140th anniversary.

According to Igor Khatkov's colleagues, his admission to the Association is an important event, it testifies to the preservation of the high positions of Russian surgeons in world medicine.

It is noted that the Russian specialist is widely known in the professional environment and is considered one of the leading surgeons in Europe in the field of low-traumatic operations. In Russia, his merits were repeatedly recognized at the regional and federal levels, and he also received professional awards from international organizations.
