Memory of war heroes is honored in different countries

Memorial events timed to the Victory Day are being held in Russia and other countries of the world. In particular, in Berlin, wreaths were laid at the Soviet war memorial, and in Arkhangelsk and the Scottish Errol they honored the memory of the heroes and remembered the cooperation of the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition during the Second World War, TASS reports.

In Scotland, an event was held in memory of Soviet pilots from the Moscow Special Forces Air Group, who arrived at Erroll Air Force Base in 1943 to carry out a secret mission. In these parts and today they remember the feat of the pilots who sent the plane that lost control away from populated areas.

The ceremony of laying wreaths, which took place at the monument to the pilots, was attended by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrei Yakovlev, representatives of local authorities. Victory Day celebrations will continue in Great Britain on May 9, with a memorial ceremony at the Soviet Memorial in London.

International cooperation during the Great Patriotic War was remembered on May 8 in Arkhangelsk. A ceremony was held at the British Memorial at the Kuznechevsky Cemetery in honor of the participants of the Allied convoys during the war. Members of the Brotherhood of Northern Convoys club laid flowers at the monument and presented a book describing how Arkhangelsk fought and survived at the beginning of the war.

In Berlin, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Soviet memorial in the Pankow district, with the participation of Russian Ambassador Sergei Nechaev, as well as the heads of the diplomatic missions of Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Representatives of local authorities, politicians and other representatives of Germany laid wreaths at the monument.
