The "Russian Theater Abroad as an Institute of Russian Culture" international conference started on Thursday, May 13. The heads of Russian theaters from different countries gathered in St. Petersburg. Among the forum participants are guests from Moldova, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus and many other countries. They were joined by representatives from various Russian regions. The organizers are the Association of Workers of Russian Theaters Abroad and the Baltic House Theater-Festival.

The organizing committee expresses confidence that the Russian theater continues to play the role of the most active propagandist of the heritage of Russian culture. The meeting participants will discuss the prospects for the development of Russian-speaking creative teams that work abroad. Also among the main topics will be a discussion of the role of national culture in contemporary theatrical art.

The forum will last for two days. The venue of the forum was the Baltic House Theater-Festival in St. Petersburg. For those who could not come to Russia, a live broadcast was organized.
