Cooperation between the Russian Museum and the city authorities of Malaga will continue until 2035. The relevant document was signed by the director of the museum, Vladimir Gusev, and the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre. This was reported on the page of the Russian Museum on Facebook.

The agreement will allow the continued development of important artistic and cultural activities that take place in the branch of the Russian Museum in Malaga. Its opening took place on March 25, 2015. The branch is located in the building of the former tobacco factory La Tabacalera, built in 1920. The Russian Museum has been allocated premises with an area of about 2,000 square meters, where a variety of genres of Russian art are presented to the attention of residents and guests of the city: from icons of the 15th century to the avant-garde of the last century. All expenses for the opening of the museum were covered by Spain. The branch annually organizes three exhibitions: two temporary, which work for 6 months, and a permanent one.

To date, the number of visitors to the branch has exceeded half a million. More than 20 exhibitions have worked there and over 600 events have been organized.
