Mikhail Bulgakov's 130th anniversary celebrated around the globe

The anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov was celebrated on Saturday, May 15, TASS reports. It is 130 years since the birth of the famous writer. Bulgakov created one of the most legendary works of Russian and world literature - "The Master and Margarita". Bulgakov also wrote "Heart of a Dog", "White Guard", the "Zoyka's Apartment" play and much more.

The future writer was born in Kiev. At first, he decided to become a doctor. After graduating from university, he worked in the village, where he began to write his first stories. During the Civil War, he was mobilized as a military doctor to the front.

He began to actively study literature in the 20s, when he moved to Moscow. Many newspapers and magazines invite him to cooperate, Bulgakov joins the All-Russian Union of Writers. In the 2nd half of the 20s, works were created that brought him great popularity. Among them are "The Devil's Day", "Heart of a Dog", "Fatal Eggs", "White Guard", "Zoykina's Apartment", "Days of the Turbins", "Beg" and others.

Many of his books were prohibited from being published; plays were no longer staged. He was accused of criticizing the revolution.

The writer worked on "The Master and Margarita" for 10 years, until his death. He dedicated the book to his last wife Elena. The novel remains to this day one of the most popular and important books in the life and work of Bulgakov. During his lifetime, The Master and Margarita was never published. For the first time the novel was published almost 30 years after the death of the author.

Mikhail Bulgakov passed away on March 10, 1940. The writer was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.
