The Russian-American consultations took place the day before, on July 28, and lasted for about seven hours, RIA Novosti reports.

The parties noted that they plan to meet again in two months. Until that time, informal consultations will take place.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov believes that the meeting was constructive, as the representatives of Washington did not try to impose approaches unacceptable for Russia.

Over the past few years, relations between Russia and the United States have been characterized by rather heated disputes, the diplomat said. The session in Geneva proved that it is possible to identify areas for convergence points.
