NY to celebrate 120th anniversary of foundation of Orthodox church

The anniversary of the foundation of St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York will be celebrated on October 4, the website of the Moscow Compatriot House reports. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the laying of the first stone of the temple. It was founded by Patriarch Tikhon in 1901.

Russian diplomats and local politicians are invited to the celebration. They will be joined by the clergy of various confessions, businessmen of both countries, public figures, Russian emigrants, members of the community.

The event will inclide a guided tour of the temple and a concert of the pianist and composer Konstantin Sukhovetsky.
