The organizers of Arctic Open International Film Festival have received more than 1,500 applications, TASS reports. The films submitted for consideration cover the entire range of issues that a modern person faces, regardless of place of residence, social status and nationality.

This year, the film forum will be held for the 5th time. The festival starts on December 9 in Arkhangelsk.

According to the organizers, the applications have been sent from 98 countries. Most of them came from Russian filmmakers, Iran was in the 2nd place, India - in the 3rd.

The preference is traditionally given to filmmakers from the Arctic countries. American filmmakers submitted more than 70 films, 25 applications came from Canada.

The organizers will have to select only 50 films. They admit that it will be a daunting task.
