Over 500 Tanzanians have adopted Orthodoxy over the past month. In early October, 140 Tanzanians were baptized in the Arusha and Central Tanzanian dioceses of the Patriarchate of Alexandria. The number of Orthodox Christians is growing throughout Africa, Pravoslavie.Ru reports.

Mass baptisms are no rarity for the African continent. This fall, almost all residents of the Tanzanian village of Mobe, which is located away from densely populated areas, decided to convert to Orthodoxy. Local believers have already erected a church made of bamboo and straw in the village.

The Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania Agafonik visited the village, and dozens of villagers gathered for the service. The bishop shared a meal with the locals and answered questions about Orthodoxy.
