Italian and American students discussed handwriting traditions in Russian

The first online meeting between second-year students from the Universities of Iowa and the Universities of Milan took place On October 24. The Director of the Russian Program of the University of Iowa (USA), Professor Irina Kostina and the methodologist of the Russian Center of the University of Milan (Italy) Oksana Bezhenar.

The first meeting was devoted to handwriting. The students worked in small groups answering the following questions: when do you have to write by hand in your country ?; how long do modern schoolchildren write ?; when did you last write by hand? ; how often do you write letters ?; have you ever written greeting cards? etc.

At the end of the meeting, the students took "The most famous letters in Russian literature." test.

Two more meetings are scheduled to take place before the end of the semester. In total, about 25 American and Italian students are taking part in the project.
