The work of higher education institutions during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic became the main topic of the online meeting of rectors of universities in Russia and Germany. In total, about 30 heads of educational institutions took part in the discussion. Heads and staff of universities admitted that the pandemic had made adjustments to their work and international projects, but did not cancel joint activities.

Rector of St. Petersburg State University, Chairman of the Association of Leading Universities of Russia Nikolai Kropachev and President of the Conference of Rectors of Germany Peter-André Alt made the keynote speeches. They talked about the importance of interaction between universities in the educational and scientific spheres in a difficult period.

During the meeting, reports were made on the impact of the pandemic on the work of universities and international cooperation of universities. Due to the closure of air traffic and the introduction of other restrictions, it became impossible to cooperate the way it was before. At the same time, universities managed to overcome this issue and even found some promising opportunities in new conditions.

Rector of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University Elena Kudryashova told her colleagues that the university managed to keep programs of academic exchanges with Germany going.
