Washington needs to appoint new diplomats to Moscow in order to normalize the situation with consular services, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said at the Fort Ross Dialogue forum, TASS reports.

Today, it is impossible to obtain an American visa in Russia, Ryabkov reminded. Russians have to travel abroad in order to be able to apply for a visa.

The senior diplomat called the current situation "intolerable." Washington should send more employees to the embassy in Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry is making every effort to involve its American counterparts to get the activities of diplomatic missions back to normal.

Earlier, the US State Department had added Russian citizens to the list of ''homeless nationalities''. Residents of these countries cannot obtain an American visa at home. Now the Russians will have to go to Warsaw to obtain a visa.

Ten US diplomats were expelled from Russia in response to yet another set of US sanctions. The American embassy and other diplomatic missions are prohibited from hiring employees from among Russians and citizens of third countries. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that no one prevents the American embassy from filling the quota of 455 diplomats by hiring employees from the United States.
