Film about Dostoevsky wins at "Date with Russia" Festival

The jury of the 1st international festival ''Date with Russia. The Territory of National Unity" unanimously awarded the Grand Prix to Ivan Zakharenko's documentary ''Dostoevsky Intercontinental." The film tells about the perception of the writer's philosophy across the globe, TASS reports. 

The film studies the popularity of Fyodor Dostoevsky around the world and the peculiarities of the perception of his work in Russia, as well as in the countries of Asia, South America and Africa.

The award for the best screenplay went to Andrei Konchalovsky's Cheerful Man. The film represents a collective image of a Russian person, their understanding of the meaning of life, happiness and patriotism.

In total, 41 films participated in the competition program, many of them were dedicated to the peoples of Russia, the preservation of ethnic minorities' languages, the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. A film about a Russian village that appeared in Germany at the beginning of the 19th century recieved the Best Director award.
