The orchestra of the Russian National Guard troops have performed in Limassol and Nicosia, TASS reports. The audience received the performers very warmly in Cyprus.

On November 2, the concert was timed to National Unity Day. The state holiday in Russia is celebrated on November 4. The program included military songs, works by Russian and foreign composers, Russian folk songs, gypsy and jazz songs.

The organizers of the tour in Cyprus were the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.

Russian Ambassador Stanislav Osadchy told the audience that the Day of National Unity was established in honor of the victory over the Polish-Lithuanian invaders who were driven out of Moscow in 1612. According to him, it was then that it became clear that only by uniting, the Russian people could defend their homeland. The people showed their unity both during the Patriotic War of 1812 and during the Great Patriotic War.

The next concert of the orchestra is going to take place in Paphos. On Thursday, November 4, the orchestra will perform on the waterfront of Ayia Napa.
