The Balkan Festival of Russian Animated Films kicked off in Montenegro. The event is timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the legendary Russian film studio - Soyuzmultfilm. Screenings will run until November 5 in Podgorica and Budva, TASS reports.

New cartoons of the studio and much-loved classics are brought to Montenegro. The program includes the stop motion-animated feature film Hoffmaniada, which will be screened with subtitles.

The festival is initiated by Balkansky Putnik, Rossiyskaya Gazeta and Rossotrudnichestvo. The agency stressed that the festival contributes to the strengthening of cooperation between the countries.

Earlier, the cartoon festival for the 85th anniversary of Soyuzmultfilm was held in Croatia. A three-day program was prepared for the residents of Zagreb.
