The Russian swimming team has won the medal standings of 2021 European Short Course Swimming Championships, which was held in Kazan. The Russians won 24 awards, including 11 gold medals. The leader of the Russian team, Kliment Kolesnikov and Anastasia Kirpichnikova, have become three-time European champions in Kazan, TASS reports.

Kolesnikov was the fastest in the 100m freestyle and backstroke, as well as the 50m backstroke. Kirpichnikova became the best at medium and long distances - 400 meters, 800 meters and 1,5 kilometers.

Ilya Borodin, who did not make it to the last Olympics due to COVID-19, became the European champion at 400-meters distance. The women's teams won two gold medals in the relay races.

The Russian team, which showed the 2nd result in the mixed relay, lost their silver medal due to a mistake: the athletes broke the order specified in the protocol when entering the track.
