Sergey Silkin has been awarded the Father of the Year title in Finland, TASS reports. The Russian moved to the northern country more than ten years ago.

Sergey Silkin is a father of four. He works in a multicultural social center in Helsinki helping Russian-speaking families to integrate children into Finnish society.

The Father of the Year title is awarded to those who promote gender equality in family life. For example, the best dad takes parental leave, find ways to support his children in exceptional situations and raise awareness about problems related to paternity in his professional life.

Silkin himself admitted that he did not expect to receive such an award. According to him, there are many very good fathers among the clients of the center. Together with Sergei Silkin, the award went to Marko Oikarainen from Kouvola and Dan Vikholm from Sipoo.

Father's Day will be celebrated at the end of this week in Finland. It is always celebrated on the second Sunday in November.
