Films from 48 countries take part in VGIK international student festival

The international stage of the VGIK Student Film Festival started on Monday, November 15, TASS reports. Its program includes nearly 90 films by young filmmakers from 48 countries.

Russia is represented by five films - the winners of the first stage of the competition. These are "The Killer" by Viktor Salimyanov, "Two Bullets" by Gleb Prokhorov, "Acclimatization" by Kristina Shirinova, "Happy" by Ivan Rodin and "Rapprochement" by Valentin Tyuterev.  "When She Comes" by Alexander Tsoi is set to open the competition.

The record number of participats are taking part in the festival this year. It is also the first time when directors from African countries are joining the competition - films from Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, Nigeria are competing for the victory.

The talent of aspiring filmmakers will be assessed by a professional jury headed by Russian actress Elena Lyadova.
