The charitable foundation named after the head of Russian Church Patriarch Kirill has been established in the United States, the website of the Russian Orthodox Church reports. It was initiated by the St. Vladimir Theological Seminary of the Orthodox Church in America.

Seminary President Archpriest Chad Hatfield noted that the foundation's work will be aimed at developing research in the field of biblical studies. The proposal to name the new foundation after the head of the Russian Orthodox Church was supported by all members of the seminary's board of trustees, he added. According to Hatfield, it was a way to support Patriarch Kirill's activities as a principled and consistent defender of canonical Orthodoxy.

The fund money will be used to provide financing to students, who conduct biblical studies. In addition, the position of a professor of biblical studies will also appear in the seminary.
