An evening dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the prominent Russian artist Konstantin Korovin took place in Paris. The event was held at the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center with the support of the Renaissance Française Association. The grandson of the painter Alexei Korovin became a special guest of the anniversary evening, the center writes on Facebook.
Leonid Kadyshev, head of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Great Patriotic War, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in France for Cultural Affairs, opened the evening. He stressed how important Korovin was for the history of Russian art: the artist was the embodiment of the loyalty to the traditions of the Russian school of fine arts and the search for new forms, which allowed Konstantin Korovin to become the founder of Russian impressionism.
The grandson of the artist Alexei Korovin addressed the audience. He spoke about the life and art of his grandfather, focusing on the painter's connection with the theatrical world. A documentary about the Korovin house-museum in the Yaroslavl region and the Russian period of his life was screened as part of the event.
