The authorities of St. Petersburg are planning to organize a cycle of cultural and business events timed to coincide with the anniversary of Peter the Great abroad, TASS reports. The events will be held in the cities the first Russian emperor visited during his travels.

In particular, the actions will take place in Rotterdam and Antwerp. St. Petersburg assured that the partners in the Netherlands and Belgium had already agreed to hold joint events.

Representatives of the city administration hope that the actions will take place next summer, as close as possible to the anniversary date.

In addition, presentations of St. Petersburg are to take place in the twin cities of the Northern capital. For a couple of years now, this has been hampered by restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of the pandemic. And the anniversary of Peter as the founder of the city is an excellent occasion. Leading creative teams will be invited to participate in the cultural program.

The main celebrations are scheduled for June 9. They will cover the historical part of St. Petersburg. Many events will also take place in other cities - Voronezh, Vyborg, Astrakhan, Tula, Ryazan, and so on. In the fall, scientists will gather in Brussels for the International Peter's Congress.
