Since 2018, 228 children have returned to Russian families from Syria. These figures were announced by the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova. She emphasized that Moscow received 1,000 more applications to evacuate children from Syria, RIA Novosti reports.

The statement was made at a meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria. Russia has carried out a large-scale work to return hundreds of Russian children.

Lvova-Belova stressed that at present, documents are ready to evacuate another 140 minors.
