A batch of the Russian Sputnik Light vaccine has been handed over by Moscow to Vietnam, RIA Novosti reports. Humanitarian aid was delivered on board by an aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on behalf of the Russian authorities.

The production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was launched in Vietnam in July. The drug was produced at its site by the local Vabiotech company. The head of Vabiotech, Dat Tuan Du, hopes that cooperation with Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) will allow the company to provide Vietnam and other countries of Southeast Asia with a high-quality and affordable vaccine against coronavirus.

RDIF notes that the technology of vaccine production is being transferred to the Vietnamese firm. According to Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF, this will facilitate access to the drug for residents of the country.
