Winners of 1st Russian language Olympiad awarded in Cyprus

More than 200 people took part in the 1st Russian language Olympiad in Cyprus, TASS reports. Its results were summed up the day before, on December 23, in Nicosia.

The best connoisseurs of the Russian language were selected in four categories. About 40 people made it to the finals. All of them were awarded diplomas and books - a biography of the first Russian emperor published in Cyprus. Its publication is timed to the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great. 

The organizers of the tournament were the Russian Embassy, ​​the Rossotrudnichestvo office and the Creative World Foundation. The competition was held with the assistance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Cyprus.

The Minister of Education of Cyprus Prodromos Prodromou promised that the Olympiad will become an annual tradition.
